WHO WE ARE.

In 2018, Khmer Community of Seattle King County (KCSKC) was reinstated as an established 501(c)3 after a decade of dormancy to provide access and important services for our vulnerable Khmer elders, youth, and families.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we pivoted from in-person traditional Khmer dance youth programming to direct services, bringing in much needed resources such as culturally-appropriate food distributions, personal protective equipment (PPE), COVID-19 vaccination clinics, and more. Since then, we have built strong trust and prioritize maintenance of our relationships with community through direct service and advocacy.

KHMER AMARAK PERFORMING ARTS.

Khmer Community of Seattle King County’s free all ages, youth-focused traditional robam (dance) and pleng (music) program. Students learn to dance traditional Khmer classical and folk robam and/or play traditional Khmer instruments. Our students may perform at public events, festivals, and Khmer New Year. Public performance is encouraged but not required.

On an annual basis, KCSKC organizes a public fundraising event that centers the hard work and dedication of Khmer Amarak performers.

ELDERS IN THE COMMUNITY.

We serve Khmer elders ages 55 and older through our Khmer Senior Village and Khmer Caregiver Respite programs. Serving elders in a culturally relevant and compassionate way is one of KCSKC’s priorities. Elders and their caregivers may benefit and engage in a variety of services including:

  • Social Gatherings and Field Trips
  • Digital/Technology Classes
  • Intergenerational Learning
  • Resource Navigation Assistance
  • Client Advocacy
  • Respite Care

KCSKC also provides opportunities for youth to engage with elders through community workshops, volunteer opportunities, and intergenerational programming.

At this time, we are not accepting enrollment into the Khmer Senior Village or Respite Caregiver programs.
